San Diego is more than sunshine and surf—this 3-day itinerary will take you from historic Old Town to stylish La Jolla, with unforgettable tacos, ocean views, and local craft brews along the way. Each day is intentionally grouped by region so you can relax and soak in the best of America’s Finest City.

Day 1: Coronado Exploration & Downtown Delights

Morning

Breakfast: Start your day at Morning Glory in Little Italy, known for its stylish ambiance and delicious breakfast options. (No reservations needed, so arrive early to avoid long wait times.)


Little Italy Mercato Farmers Market (Wednesday Only)

The Little Italy Mercato Farmers' Market, open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., offers fresh produce, artisanal foods, local crafts, and flowers along West Date Street. It's a vibrant spot to explore seasonal fruits, handmade goods, and regional specialties from vendors like Da-Le Ranch and Swells Sourdough Bakery. After your visit, stop by Morning Glory for a stylish breakfast in Little Italy, but arrive early to avoid long wait times.


Ferry to Coronado: Head to the Broadway Pier and take the Coronado Ferry across San Diego Bay. The ferry offers scenic views and a relaxing start to your adventure.​


Late Morning

Bike Rental: Upon arrival in Coronado, rent bikes from Holland's Bicycles near the ferry landing.​


Bike Tour of Coronado: Ride along the Coronado Bayshore Bikeway, enjoying coastal views. Stop by the iconic Hotel del Coronado and relax on the pristine Coronado Beach.​


Lunch

The Taco Stand: After returning your bikes, take the ferry back to downtown San Diego and head to The Taco Stand in the Gaslamp Quarter for authentic Tijuana-style tacos.​ Their al pastor and carne asada tacos are must-tries.


Afternoon

USS Midway Museum: If you're interested in history, explore the USS Midway Museum—it’s a historic aircraft carrier with fascinating exhibits. If not, feel free to skip it and enjoy more time exploring the downtown area.


Alternatively, visit Seaport Village for some light shopping and ocean views.


Evening

Dinner: Dine at Born and Raised in Little Italy, a chic steakhouse with rooftop seating offering panoramic city views.​


Nightcap: For a post-dinner drink, visit The Nolen, a rooftop bar offering craft cocktails with stunning skyline views.​

Day 2: Balboa Park, San Diego Zoo & Padres Game

San Diego Zoo: Allocate 3–4 hours to explore the world-famous San Diego Zoo, home to over 3,500 animals. Don’t miss the Giant Panda Exhibit and Elephant Odyssey.


Evening

Padres Game at Petco Park: If the Padres are playing at home, catch a game at Petco Park. It’s an incredible experience to watch from the ALTITUDE Sky Lounge on the 22nd floor, offering spectacular views of both the stadium and the city skyline. The elevated vantage point is perfect for watching a game in style.​


Dinner Options:

Inside Petco Park: Enjoy ballpark classics or local favorites like Carnitas’ Snack Shack.​ Or, grab a bite at Board & Brew, a great stadium option offering sandwiches and craft beer.

Tacos El Gordo (Downtown): Alternatively, for another taco experience, head to Tacos El Gordo for their famous tacos de trompo and other authentic Tijuana-style tacos.

Breakfast: Start your day with a delicious breakfast at The Mission in Mission Beach. Enjoy their famous chilaquiles or cinnamon french toast to fuel up for the day ahead.


Ocean Beach Exploration: After breakfast, head to Ocean Beach to take in the relaxed beach-town atmosphere. Stroll along the pier, check out the local shops, and maybe dip your toes in the water.


Sunset Cliffs: From Ocean Beach, make your way to Sunset Cliffs Natural Park. Hike along the cliffs for some breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. This is the perfect spot for scenic photos and a bit of tranquility before you continue your adventure.


Lunch

OB Farmers Market (Wednesdays Only): Head to the Ocean Beach Farmers Market every Wednesday from 4 pm – 8 pm. Explore over 100 vendors offering fresh produce, hot food, local artisan goods, and more.
