Napa Valley: Sip, Savor, and Soar!

Napa Valley is beautiful year-round but shines brightest from August through October (harvest season) and March through May (spring bloom). Dress in layers—mornings and evenings can be cool even in summer. Bring comfortable walking shoes for winery tours and vineyard strolls. Book winery tastings and top restaurants weeks or months in advance—they fill up quickly! Renting a car is highly recommended, but if you plan to enjoy multiple wine tastings, use local ride shares, or book wine tour shuttles for safety. Most wineries charge tasting fees, but some waive them if you purchase wine. Be polite, patient, and tip generously—hospitality is a core part of the culture.

Day 1: Welcome to Napa!
Start your day with artisan coffee and a warm pastry at Model Bakery (famous for their English muffins!) located in downtown Napa. Fun fact: Oprah swears by them! Stroll around downtown Napa's Riverfront Promenade with its cute shops and river views. For lunch, head to Oxbow Public Market—a lively spot to sample local favorites like Hog Island Oyster Co. and Gott’s Roadside (order the ahi burger!). Spend your afternoon on a Downtown Napa Wine Tasting Crawl featuring tasting rooms like JaM Cellars (think wine and rock music) and Cadet Wine & Beer Bar. Dinner at Angele, a cozy French bistro, offers romantic riverfront views. End with drinks at Sky & Vine Rooftop Bar, where you can sip cocktails around firepits under the stars.

📍Transportation Tip: Everything in Downtown Napa is walkable today!

Day 2: Legendary Wineries and a Foodie Adventure
Grab breakfast at Napa General Store Café before heading north to visit Castello di Amorosa—a jaw-dropping, fully authentic medieval castle and winery! Fun fact: It was built using 8,000 tons of hand-chiseled stone over 15 years. Continue to Sterling Vineyards for their aerial tram ride and stunning hilltop tastings. For lunch, enjoy a gourmet picnic at V. Sattui Winery, where you can grab cheese, charcuterie, and wine from their artisanal market. In the afternoon, take a Napa Valley Food Tour (Yountville or St. Helena options available) to sample local olive oil, cheese, chocolates, and boutique wines. Tonight, join a cooking class at CIA at Copia, where you'll learn to craft farm-to-table Napa-style dishes. For a light nightcap, swing by Compline Wine Bar back downtown.

📍Transportation Tip: Rent a car or use a wine tour shuttle for vineyard hopping.

Day 3: Arts, History, and Iconic Views
Fuel up with coffee and pastries at Bouchon Bakery (don't miss the almond croissant!) in Yountville. Spend your morning at the di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art, a beautiful 217-acre preserve showcasing quirky and fascinating Bay Area art. Fun fact: It houses over 2,000 works from post-WWII artists! Visit the Napa Valley Museum in Yountville to get a sense of the valley's rich cultural and natural history. For lunch, indulge at R+D Kitchen for great sandwiches and sushi. In the afternoon, explore Chateau Montelena Winery, credited with putting California wines on the global map after winning the 1976 Paris Tasting. Enjoy a farm-to-table dinner at Farmstead at Long Meadow Ranch, featuring organic ingredients grown on-site. Sip wine under twinkling lights on their patio.

📍Transportation Tip: Easy short drives between stops (5-20 minutes max).

Day 4: Adventure and Relaxation
Start the day early with a magical hot air balloon ride over the valley (book with Napa Valley Balloons). Fun fact: Flights usually launch at sunrise and often include a champagne breakfast! After floating among the vineyards, grab a casual brunch at Southside Café, beloved by locals. Then, soak in the historic Calistoga Hot Springs—natural mineral pools used for centuries for their healing properties. Stroll downtown Calistoga’s boutiques and art galleries afterward. For lunch, visit Sam’s Social Club at Indian Springs. If you're feeling adventurous, hike the scenic Bothe-Napa Valley State Park trails nearby. For your final dinner, treat yourselves at The Restaurant at Auberge du Soleil, a Michelin-starred experience with breathtaking sunset views. Toast with a final glass of Napa Valley’s finest!

📍Transportation Tip: Book balloon rides with shuttle pickup; Calistoga is about 30 minutes from Napa by car.

Day 5: Farewell with a Taste of Sonoma (Optional Day Trip)
Grab one last perfect latte at Napa Valley Coffee Roasting Company before heading west to neighboring Sonoma Valley (just a 30-40 minute drive). Visit Sonoma Plaza, lined with historic buildings and wine tasting rooms. Don't miss Mission San Francisco Solano, the last and northernmost California mission. For lunch, dine at the girl & the fig, beloved for its rustic French cuisine and garden seating. Spend your afternoon at Buena Vista Winery, California’s oldest premium winery, where you can even dress in vintage winemaking costumes for a photo op! Return to Napa for a farewell dinner at Oenotri, a Southern Italian gem in downtown Napa specializing in handmade pastas and fresh local produce.

📍Transportation Tip: Easy self-drive or join a Sonoma day tour.
